Shop Superior Campaign

The Town of Superior applauds the initiative undertaken by the Superior Chamber of Commerce to “Shop Superior”.  Under this program, existing and prospective Chamber members will be prominently displaying specially-designed “Shop Superior” decals in their windows.
The Town’s support for this initiative is simple – we derive such a significant portion of our operating and capital improvement budgets from sales tax, that any increase in this source of revenue relieves the demand for more onerous taxes and user fees directly on our residents.  Specifically, locally-generated sales tax revenues provide:
• 100 percent of our open space initiatives
•   90 percent of our capital improvements budget (including streets, sidewalks, drainage and recreation improvements)
• more than 50 percent of all General Fund expenses, which includes police protection, public works, recreational programming, building inspections and support services
• significant support to our water, sewer and storm drainage utilities
So – as we ask you to support the Chamber’s “Shop Superior” program, remember that approximately $3.50 out of every $100 purchase goes back to the community in which the purchase is made.   Therefore, if you have a choice between a retailer located in Superior versus in another jurisdiction – pick the Superior retailer – and keep your sales taxes in Town.
