One of the responsibilities of the Chamber is to stay engaged with the objectives of the Town’s Board of Trustees so regular attendance at their meetings is common. As a result, we have the knowledge to answer questions for both the business owners and the residents throughout the area.

New civic space was the discussion at this week’s meeting, specifically Parcels 1 and 2. Here is a recap: Over the course of the last three years Town staff, the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee (PROSTAC), the Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC), consultants from GreenPlay, and landscape architects and engineers from Design Concepts and Matrix Design Group worked to create a comprehensive park design for two of the five civic space parcels identified in the Superior Town Center. The parcels, which are approximately 6.5 acres in combined size, border the north and south side of Coal Creek between McCaslin Boulevard and US 36. A review of the latest park design was presented with these highlights:

  • natural play areas
  • amphitheater
  • pavilion areas
  • iconic element to be the bridge over Coal Creek at Marshall Road
  • plenty of spectator seats along the multipurpose field
